Legal Question in Family Law in California

Ex moves to Oregon

Been divorced 7 years now. Custody was 50/50. Ex sues me for sole full custody. He was proven not to be that great of a person so I ended up with full sole custody. Court order states supervised visits only as long as step-mother is there, and no over night stays. Son is 14 years old now and ex moved to Oregon. Ex wants our son to visit. Will I be violating a court order if I send him? And now that ex was activated in military my son is entitled to the medical insurance but ex tells son that his insurance and military ID is only good in Oregon and not California. My son wants to play football but needs to prove he is covered with insurance. Court order also says as long as insurance is provided by employer that my ex is suppose to provide it. But he refuses to send our son his ID card and keeps up with the lie of the insurance is no good in california. What can I do as he is in Oregon?

Re: Ex moves to Oregon

I believe you are putting your rights and even your son in jeopardy by sending son to Oregon as per your noted court order restricting rights of father. However, re insurance, if father in military, his statements appear ridiculous. 800-685-6950 Don Holben

Military medical insurance is available in all 50 states and probably in many foriegn countries. If he is on active duty contact his commanding officer and request medical insurance information. Get a certified copy of his birth certificate.

Do not place your son in jeopardy by sending him to Oregon.
