Legal Question in Family Law in California

Order to Show Cause

I am the respondent in a divorce case. I would like to file a Order to Show Cause to modify some of the existing orders currently in place. How many differnt orders can I ask for at the OSC hearing. Also, should I hire an attorney?? What should I expect at the OSC hearing. What happens and how prepared do I need to be? Thanks!

Re: Order to Show Cause

Ask for as many orders as you need. Don't be afraid to load up. In my opinion it's always a good idea to hire experts to solve problems. If my roof leaks I call a roofer. But that's just me. At the OSC the judge will tell you to get with the opposing party and try to settle things on your own. If you reach an agreement on some or all of the issues you can draft a stipulation for order, which the judge signs. The judge will make a decision on the unresolved orders.
