Legal Question in Family Law in California

Paternity test - I don't know who this person is!

There is this woman who claims I am the father of her child.I have never met this woman before, and know that she has me confused with someone else. This has upset my wife very much and I wanted to put an end to this by taking a paternity test, but my wife will believe I cheated on her if I take it.She says if it didnt happen then I shouldnt take it.Which makes sence. But legaly im afraid this will escalade. The child is 3 years old another man signed the birth certificate saying he was the father, and he gives her money every month to help support the child.Legaly can she make me take a paternity test, or can she file for child support on me?

She can collect child support from only one person as the father. However, taking the paternity test is not an admission that you were having an affair with this woman. Taking the paternity test should stop her falsely claiming that you are the father of her child.
