Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am paying child support for one child who resides in Louisiana. The child may not be mine. How do I go about getting a DNA sample from the child for testing? Do I have to travel to LA to get this resolved?

It depends in part on where the child support order was issued. That is where you have to start. If it is a Louisiana order and that is where the child resides, the whole thing will have to be handled there. If it is a CA order, you can handle it in CA courts and obtain an order for the testing. You will still have to file the order in Louisiana and obtain a Louisiana court's order that the CA order be obeyed in LA, however. One problem you should be prepared to address in either state, however, is why you didn't contest paternity when the support order issued in the first place.
