am i responsible for my spoues's debt prior to our marriage?

I'm planning to marry a man who was married and divorced in CA. We live in TN. He owes thousands of dollars in alimony and back child support. Will I be putting my belongings - e.g., my house, etc, in jeopardy? Can his ex take my possessions?

It would seem that the question to your question would depend upon the laws in TN or the state in which you are residing.
