California still has jurisdiction over him because he resided here last. You can still file divorce soon against him and serve him with the papers in Arizona. Most states have residency requirement of a certain length before their courts have jurisdiction over a person's divorce matter, usually six months or less. In Arizona it's 90 days so if you wait, he may be able to file divorce there first against you.
