Statutory rape

My daughter who is 14 just informed me she is pregnant,the man is 22 yrs old an already has 3 kids and 2 girlfriends. I want to press charges against him but she will not give me the name what can I legally do? Can she get support without a name?

Make a criminal complaint anyway. Let the DA get the name from her. She can get welfare and they'll get the name from her.

I don't mean to be overly personal, and do not mean to offend, but if it would not offend your and your daughter's morals or religion, she might consider terminating the pregnancy. There are other options as well. You might call Planned Parenthood. Good luck.

I might suggest that you call child protective services. They will then get the District Attorney involved at the appropriate time. They are used to dealing with children and their insecurities and concerns. Yes she can collect child support and may wish to collect AFDC so that the state can help her with her education. This is a very difficult circumstance but one that you can show your daughter how much you love her. No discipline needed here, her circumstances will provide her with more punishment that she deserves. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
