Legal Question in Medical Leave in California

Maternity Leave, CA

Hi there: I began working for my company in July, 2007 and there are about 35 employees. My baby is due in May, 2008. Am I entitled to both 6 weeks of State disability (SDI) and then another 6 weeks throught the Paid Family Leave program? Is my job protected? Did I have to be here 12 months to be eligible? There is just so much information out there and I'm having a hard time sorting through all of it.

Thank you,

Jenny

Re: Maternity Leave, CA

You have to qualify for unpaid 12 week FMLA leave by working full time for a year at an employer with 50 people, before starting leave. For unpaid FEHA Pregnancy 4 month leave there only needs to be 5 employees.
