Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

I have 2 large trees in my yard. My nextdoor neighbor wants them trimmed where they overhange the fence. I offered to trim them but he did not want me to come into his backyard. So, I told him he could trim them and throw the branches over the fence. So far he has not done this. I received a letter from the real estate company that manages the property and they gave me a bis to have the trees trimmed. I do not want to pay to trim the trees. Can they make me?

Why did the management ask you to trim the trees; if it was on behave of the neighbor then you do not have to do it, but if you are in violation of homeowner associations rules then you wold have to pay for it. Why does the neighbor not want you to come into his yard?
