Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Need help

My boyfriends ex girlfriend of 12 years is looking into taking him to small claims court.over a car she purchased under her name for him. The car was purchased in Feb. of last year. He has made every single payment on the car as well as put $1000 down payment. They broke up in Aug of last year, we started dating in Sept. Since then she just recently had the cops come out to his moms house with the story that he stole her car. My boyfriend had to explain the whole brake up thing and they simply told her she cannot just take the car unless she took further action. We ended up keeping the car for a couple of weeks until we recieved a certified letter with her statement that they are now broken up and for him to return the car. We did so just last week. Now she may take him to court because he does not have original rims that were on the car. The only proof we can show is 4 or 5 paid checks to the bank for payment of the car. Will she win this fight over rims?

Re: Need help

No response can be given on the limited facts provided. I would think would be the difference in value of the original rims and the rims on the car when it was returned to her. Go to the small claims court clinic with all the information you can gather. They will assist you in preparing a response.
