Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Dog fight on private property

Access to our home is via a dirt road which we own and is signed - No

Trespassing, Private Property. A woman brought her dog down our road

(passing the sign) and our dog fought her dog. She had her finger bitten as she

tried to break up the fight. Her dog was injured though it walked away. She

announced she's a lawyer and is claiming we should pay all medical and vet bills

and is threatening to ''take us to court'' if we don't comply. What is our

responsibility?

Re: Dog fight on private property

I do not believe you are liable based on the facts as you presented them. Nonetheless, I would notify your homeowner's insurance carrier of the potential claim just to be safe.
