1. Buy insurance in advance of a loss.

2. Go bankrupt.

3. Get a good lawyer to defend you.

Mr. Stone presumed you don't have insurance. If being sued as an employee and the suit relates to work, tender the suit to your employer. If it relates to a homeowners matter, you should tender it to your insurance carrier.

By defending yourself against a judgment. Any major transfer of assets after you are sued could be viewed as fraud and recovered. If the suit is for enough money to worry you about your real estate, then you better consult an attorney about your defenses and settlement potential.
