I lost in small claims as the plantiff but am convinced the judge screwed up - do I have any recourse?

No. There are advantages and disadvantages to suing in small claims court. One of the disadvantages is that you can't appeal if the judge makes a mistake. (Defendants can appeal because they didn't choose to be in small claims.)
