Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

A mom threatened to sue my mom/me because her daughter claimed that I called her a who*e. I am a minor and so is the daughter. The mom threatened to sue us and tell my school about the name calling. I did not name call, and her mom claimed that her daughter heard it from two friends, one of which who does not go to my school. I called both friends and one of them claimed they heard it from a conversation that did not involve him, and the other said I did not say it, and was not completely sure. Can I sue the mom for threatening legal action? This event has taken a huge toll on my mental health to the point where I can not focus in school, nor home because I am about to cry every minute. My parents are thinking of seeking a therapist and maybe an attorney if we are able to sue them. Thank you for your help.

Even if you really did say what you're accused of saying, there would be no basis for a lawsuit unless there is a lot more to the story. The mother's threat to sue you is also no basis for a lawsuit (again, unless there is a lot more to the story).
