Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Myself and a (person) had an agreement for the (person) to have my car fixed. I hadnt paid my car registration and and my car was towed in front of the (person). And this (person) also did not tell me this until the following day after the fact. My question is...Can I do anything about this legally? If so what area of law do i study and what action to take.

Studying law won't keep them from towing your car if you don't pay the registration.

from what you say, his working on the car would not have prevented it from being towed. Depending on when you could have gotten to a DMV Office to have the car registered, at most the other person cost you one additional day of storage. If you would not have been able to get the car out of the tow truck storage yard even if the other person had told you immediately after it was towed, what did that person do that really caused you any damage? Without damages you have no case. With a few hundred dollars in damages you do not have a case worth pursuing unless you do not work during Small Claims Court hours.
