Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Snoring neighbor disturbance - What remedies available?

Living in apartment, downstairs neighbor snores extremely loud. Walls thin, permit sounds to pass. Neighbor snoring nightly 10 PM to 6:00 AM sounds like bear under my bed. Interfering with my ability to sleep, enjoy my life. Landlord won't do anything. Neighbor and I have had differences before on other matters (barbecue smoke, loud music) from him. Direct complaint by me to neighbor not an option-he has made death threats through the floor when I stomped to make him stop.

My question is what legal rights do I have to remedy this situation, and how can I prove it's happening without violating my neighbor's right to privacy (ie, recording of the snoring?)

Recording the snoring does not violate privacy unless you enter his apt to do it. the best way is to have a few witnesses come over for a snore listening party.
