stolen gun

a few weeks ago a guy from a home depot sublet company came to my house to do an air conditioning estimate couple of weeks later i found my .38 caliber pistol was missing i believe he stole it i made the police report and named him as a possible suspect i also called his employer and explained the situation. they asked him he said he didn't take it and that was the end of that what can i do to get at least paid for the value of the gun.

You have no proof of wrongdoing on which to 'sue somebody'. You can make a claim on your howeowners or renters insurance if you have any, and if you have proof of ownership of the pistol.

You can make a claim on your howeowners or renters insurance if you have any, and if you have proof of ownership and possession of the pistol. You are apparently guilty of not providing safe and secure storage, and risked various potential legal problems, one of which you have now suffered by the loss.
