Can I post a project on Kickstarter or sell things through Etsy while on a TN working visa in the US? How about winning a monetary prize through a competition?

If you are selling things as a private seller, then there should not be a problem. As far as a contest goes, as long as the contest does not have any immigration status restrictions, then all you might face are some tax consequences.
