Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

R1 visa Stamp

I came here as a tourist (B2 visa). A church sposored me to work for them as a religious worker (R1). It was approved a few months ago. I got a new I-94 and R1 status.

I believe that R1 status is not the same with R1 visa, right?

How can I get a R1 visa (stamp) without going back home to my country?

R-1 status is an R-1 visa.

The new I-94 with the R-1 indication is legal document for you to carry if you stay in the US. The INS doesn't give out an R-1 visa stamp when there's a change of visa status, as you did.

If you want an R-1 stamp in your passport, your home consulate can do it. In some countries, you might be able to do it by mail.
