Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

I have an account with Farmers insurance. I called them on Monday to pay my bill and they said i owed $25.39. That was not correct, My bill is always $95.39. Someone added $70.00 to my account without my knowlegde, also the account is in my Fiance's name not mine. I am second on the account, they said they could not tell me who made the payment and that it was not a mistake and mailed me a receipt that my insurance is payed. Now they are calling me a week later wanting me to pay the $70 because they made a mistake...I have my receipt and the woman on the phone would not help me find out who it was that payed, she said it was not a mistake last week...I am confused... What should I do? I spent the money on food for my house, every month I am having issues with this company and my payments.

Probably, the easiest thing to do would be to have your fiancé call the insurance company with you on the other line to get an explanation. If that doesn't work, write a certified letter, return receipt, and enclose proof of all of your previous payments. Address it to the regional supervisor or some other higher-up. I'm sure you'll get a response.
