Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

Privacy

Hello, I am a student at UCI and I

am under my father's auto insurance

policy. At UCI it is impossible for

anyone other than myself to obtain

my transcript. I obtained my

transcript and sent it to my

insurance company specifically saying

do now show this to anyone else. I

was thinking it is my private

documents and it is my right as an

adult to make sure no one outside of

the insurance company sees my

document.

The insurance company showed my

father, policy holder, my transcript.

Did they violate my rights of privacy?

I specifically told the insurance

company not to do this but they did

anyways. Any help or guidance would

be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Privacy

The insurance company might have a duty to disclose documents in its file to its primary insured -- your father. Your mistake was to submit a transcript. A letter verifying your enrollment at UCI would have been a better choice. I trust that you're maintaining good grades and that your father has should not be concerned about your studies!
