Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

I have been off work for six weeks collecting CA SDI. I work for a small company that has less than fifty employees and is not covered under FMLA or CFRA. I also work under a collective bargaining unit agreement that provides Health and Welfare benefitsin the month following a month that an employee works, no stipulation on number of days or hours. I am wondering if there are any state laws requiring the company to provide continuation of benefits while I am disabled. I believe they will continue to pay for my benefits. I know I would be eligible for COBRA which would cost as much or more than the regular insurance premium. How do you recover from your diasbility if you loose your benefits?

For your disability and any work-related medical condition and even for future medical treatment, you must be protected under worker's compensation coverage. You need to retain an attorney to fight for you not only to get you a reasonable settlement but also demand reasonable future medical treatment including surgery, therapy, doctor visits.... that in most cases my be more than your settlement.
