Legal Question in Intellectual Property in California

General intellectual property question

Our company is currently developing a website that will sell advertising space (similar to an online phone directory). Are there legal implications to consider if using a slightly modified version of an existing competitors ''terms & conditions'' and ''privacy policy?'' If there are legal implications, how should my fine print differ if Im selling what is essentially an identical product? Thank you very much.

Re: General intellectual property question

It could be considered copyright infringement if you copy the terms and conditions and privacy policy too exactly.

More importantly, unless an IP attorney customizes the terms and conditions and privacy policy, they might not adequately protect you.
