Investment accounting record

I gave $60K to a friend to invest in Hong Kong stock market in 97. I have not received any accounting or report since. Can I get my investment back?

Re: Investment accounting record

I suppose you have not heard from your "friend" in eleven years. I also assume you have never received any dividend checks, annual reports, tax statements or any other communications from any company, stock exchange, or broker.

In my opinion, one or more of the following is true: 1. the investments were never made. 2. The investments were made in the friend's name or into his accounts. 3. Your money was put into risky speculations such as currency futures and lost. 4. Your money was wagered at a casino and lost. 5. Your money was stolen.

In the slight chance the money was honestly invested, you might ask the authorities in Hong Kong to trace sxchange records for property in your name or your "friend's" name. It's possible your address was given improperly, or there is some other explanation, but I think the odds are high that you are a victim of fraud or theft.
