Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in California

When a minor at 16 commits a crime like breaking in to someones home and causes damage and restitution has been charged. Is the parent who was living in a different city not at the time whom the child lives with obligated to pay? If so how and why is the parent whom the child was not staying with at the time responsible for the childs wrongful act?

Calif Civil Code 1714.1 addresses this very clearly. Only the parent(s) who have custody and control of the minor would be held responsible for acts of the minor who defaced property or committed some other act of vandalism. Therefore, it is very unlikely that a parent who does not have such custody and control would be held liable for such acts of their minor child.
