Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in California

Underage Petty Theft at walmart

Ive seen numerous websites that state Walmarts position on petty Theft in regards to my position; Under 18 and having caught stealing an item less than 25$ worth. (7$), They all state that Walmart will not prosecute me. However, their LP department notified me that they would send a letter to my residence from their lawyers of how much compensation they want/ their desition of whether or not to take me to court. I just want to know what i should really expect, and wether or not their statements on their stands on this kind of crime will help me.

If you are lucky, all they will do is send your parents a bill for hundreds of dollars. If you are unlucky you will get a record as a thief and you will be poor and unemployed for life.
