Legal Question in Employment Law in California

My boss told me that he is putting me in PIP program. He said that things did not work out. He offer me to go through pip program or take a package with 1 month. He did not specified what is the reason for putting me on it. And he showed me no documents. He just said that take the package or go through PIP. He said if going through PIP, there is no unemployment benefit. So he say should think about the package. He give me two days to decide what to pick. I asked him about the reason for PIP and I want to see the details on how to help me to improve. He orginally say yes, he will do that. Then he called me on cell and say if I want to see the plan, he won't offer the package. Either take the package now or go through PIP and no unemployment benefit.

Anything I can do ? I have been with the company for 7 years. My official yearly reviews all along has been decent and good.

I have no idea what means PIP. They are firing you. Either negotiate a severance package that is more than you would get from 6 months of collecting unemployment, or do nothing and take the unemployment. Do not sign anything unless he lets you keep the paper overnight to show to your lawyer. If it is really a good deal he will let you sleep on it and consult a lawyer. It he demands you sign something right now, say no.
