Legal Question in Employment Law in California

denied promotion/transfer

been working for a mayor hotel company for over a year as a waiter but i have over 15 years experience as a bartender.6 months ago 2 bartender positions were open and i applied.despite my qualifycations i was denied the positions in both occations.the manager told me that he wanted to hire a girl bartender because customers liked to look at girls at the bar.2 female cocktail servers have been filling those positions.2 months ago 2 more positions were open and i applied again.the manager also denied the positions to me and said that he was going to talk to another female waitress with no experience.

Re: denied promotion/transfer

It appears that the employer is engaging in discriminatory practices by specifying gender as a requirement of the job. You should speak to an attorney to explore your rights. Contact me if you would like to discuss this further.
