Disqualified due to false references and possible discrimination

Recently applied to be state police, passed everything with flying colors. Background investigation rolls by and was disqualified due to false references by former employers and possible discrimination by background officer. Need to get into more depth to see story more cleary. Is is a case?

you may very well have a claim for retaliation either under federal or state statutes . . .

if you have more information a better analysis could be made . . . however there are very definite time limits within which you must make administrative claims to preserve your rights . . .
