Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I am an employee in the state of California. My employer regularly pays me late and has been doing so for nearly two years...sometimes a few days late, sometimes more than a week. Also, recently our health coverage was cancelled without our knowledge, only to be discovered when an employee went to use his health insurance and was denied. We have been told my our employer that we now have to seek our own health care. My fellow employees and I feel extremely mistreated. We've gone to the labor board, but they said there was not much they could do that would have an impact. We want to know if there is a way that we can leave the company and still be eligible for unemployment benefits. Thank you.

The Labor Board told you reality. Now, if you quit, you will likely be denied EDD, since you don't have 'substantial grounds' to justify quitting. Find another job before you quit.
