Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Employment Termination
My husband and myself were employed by a mortgage loan company. My husband was a loan processor and i was a loan officer. After few months of employment with the company, my husband resigned and started working as a loan officer at a different mortgage loan company. Right after my husband resigned, my manager called me and said he will terminate me because my husband is a loan officer at a different mortgage loan corporation. Therefore, i can not be employed by them any more.
MY QUESTION IS THAT CAN MY EMPLOYER TERMINATE ME BECAUSE MY HUSBAND IS A LOAN OFFICER AT A DIFFERENT CORPORATION?

California is a right to work state, ie., let you go for good reason, bad reason or no reason. I believe they can. Not smart, but...
