Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Our executive director resigned at the office 5 months ago. Since she resigned we do not have a true boss in the office and have to look to the Board of Directors and the other staff for supervision. I am the lowest employee there and work in admin. This summer I was required to take on more roles than ever before, partly because the Executive Director resigned and no one was there to take over. I become overwhelmed with the amount of work and continued to ask for help with managing my schedule. No one listened or seemed to care. I got married on Sept. 17th and left for my honeymoon which was paid time off and scheduled well in advance of the ED resignation. When I got back I was told my performance was no longer acceptable and that my work quality was horriable. They envrionment has become increasingly hostile with employees whispering beyond eachothers backs talking about me. I explained to the national board President that I was overwhelmed because of the ED's resignation and that I needed a boss, and they created a temporary solution of making the Controller my boss. She works with money and does not understand anything related to my job. She has done nothing but harrass and talk down to me since she has taken over the role as my boss. She tells me that my work is not acceptable and that if she was boss when our ED was boss she would not have allowed me to work at the company. She questions my degree, and never says anything positive about me. on Friday she told me that its not working and to take the weekend to think about it. My feeling is they want me to quit because they have no legal room to fire me without an ED. When we had an ED my performance was never questioned. I was given a glowing review and was told multiple times that my work quality was top notch. Now since the ED has been gone I have been told that is not the case and its not working. I am having a hard time coming into the office knowing they do not want me there. I feel like I am being harrassed. Why is it now they have addressed concerns for my skills about our ED resigned? Is there anything I can do? Is this a case of harrassment?

Unless you are being discriminated against on the basis of a protected classification (race, gender, etc.), or the harassment involves the threat of violence or makes you fear for your safety, it is not legally actionable harassment and you have no case. Just general job harassment and bad management are not against the law.
