Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Expense reimbursements

I use my personal phone line for company work. My company wants the original bill before they will reimburse me. Do I have to submit my original bill? Can I charge late fees to my employer?

Re: Expense reimbursements

What is the problem? Photocopy your bill for your records, and redact the portions of the original you do not want your employer to see. It is not unreasonable for an employer to ask for proof of an expense reimbursement request. If a problem persists, tell them you will not use your personal phone for business purposes. They will need to provide you with a company phone. Late fees are probably not the responsibility of the company unless they are directly responsible for the late payment.
