fired for felony

can a job terminate a person for a felony conviction that was not disclosed at the time of hire after the person has already worked at the company for 5 months? are there any time limits for back ground checks?

Re: fired for felony

In most cases yes - it is grounds for termination, especially if you were asked orally or in writing (such as in employment application) whether you had criminal history and you failed to disclose that.

Re: fired for felony

His placement probably was subject to completion of a background check. Sometimes it takes months for the reports to come in.

As California is an at-will state, anyway, he could be fired for no reason or any reason (with some exceptions) as long as it's not an illegal reason.
