Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Flexible Work Schedule

Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me. I have an accounting department made up of 1 PT and 3 FT employees. One of my FT employees wants to change her schedule to a 4/10 schedule. I have no problem with this. Am I going to have any issues having 1 PT, 2 8/5 employees and 1 4/10 employee? Do I have to change the schedule for everyone or can just this one individual change her schedule? Any information or help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Re: Flexible Work Schedule

While an employer can allow such a schedule, overtime for the two additional hours daily will be required. California has authorized alternative work weeks however the must be implemented pursuant to strict rules. In your case, the most significant is that the schedule must be applicable to all employees performing the same work. If you would like more information about alternative work weeks or other wage and hour issues, feel free to contact me.
