Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I goofed can I collect unemployment benefits

I am a male manager I had an improper relationship with a married female subordinate. The relationship fell apart She went to my boss and told him about the affair. She made it sound like I was harrasing her. I told them (HR & my boss) that rather than be fired I'll just quit tomorrow (Monday April 24th) at 2:00 PM. I'm ready to leave the job. I goofed up. But am I going to be able to draw unemployment benefits? Does it effect my eligability if I quit or if I am fired.

Thanks

FFF

Re: I goofed can I collect unemployment benefits

As a general rule, employees who resign are not entitled to UI benefits, but employees who are terminated by the employer can collect the benefits. The easy approach may be to ask your employer not to contest your benefits in exchange for your prompt resignation without argument. Try to get that commitment in writing.
