Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I was hired on Monday to start a $50,000 job at an auto dealership today. I did my drug screen which was clean and was asked to call in on Wednesday (yesterday) to go over details and schedule. Come to find out, yesterday was the Gen Manager's last day there and they knew nothing about me. I also met with the Internet sales manager, who couldn't wait for me to start. I am suppose to call back in to the interim manager today to find out if I can still come in. I turned down another position and would be stuck if they don't hire me. Is there any recourse if they do not hire me?
