Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Hostle Work environment

In my department there have been 5 facility managers in a period one year....some got fired some quite. My current manager who makes 130k a year plus stock and bonuses just resigned. The IT director creates a hostle work environment. We has called me a ''Fucken Idiot'' numerous times. even in front of vendors. My boss in his final exit interview told the HR department about the IT director and said he was resigning do to him. This man disrespects everyone and picks on people. I filed 2 formal complaints and have not seen resolution. What I do see is the It director and the HR director going to lunch and laughing all the time together. I love my job and am great at what I do. But lately I find it harder and harder to be productive. What can I do???????

Probably nothing legally, unless it causes you such stress that you need mental health treatment and can then seek workers compensation. You could address the problem with someone above -- such as the company president or vice president. However, be prepared for retaliation. It might help to start looking for new work elsewhere.

Find a new job. Poor management and people skills, and merely hostile environment, are not grounds for a lawsuit. If they were, millions of suits would be filed yearly. Unless the conduct violates the discrimination laws, which it doesn't sound like, there is nothing effective you can do, other than complain to upper management. A workers comp case for stress is one remedy, but not much of one.
