Is it legal for an owner of a small business to ask employees not to cash their paychecks for a day or two after the day it is issued?

Thank you.

No an employer may not ask you to hold a paycheck - funds MUST be available when the check is owed and issued - this is standard Califronia Law. You may want to look over the Department of Labor Standards Enforcement web site fir the State of California- put in as a search DLSE California and it should come rightup - make sure you are on the STATE web-site and not some scam copy. If it continues please note my name and you can repost another question directed to me and I can give you further direction.
