Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Medical leave
I have been disabled from work for 4 to 5 weeks now . i have had a surgery , and my doctor says i need another one which is scheduled for 2 weeks from now . i have a tube incerted in my kidney to my bladder. It is painful to sit up to long. My employer said i have to return to work now , or face loosing my job. i have been employed with my company full time since Nov, 99. I was a temp since july 99. I need my job, and enjoy it, i want to return to work but this medical problem will not permit it . Can they fire me for being off with a doctors note ?? i really need an answere , cause i am running out of time with them .

Yes, they can let you go once you have used up any leave that you have.
