Misuse of authority
What are the California Laws on how many breaks, and how long of breaks you get during a 5hr. 8hr. and 10hr.shifts?
Re: Misuse of authority
Unless the employee's duties make them exempt, the employee, in California is entitled to a ten minute break during each four hour period of work in a workday. So, for a 5 hour shift, one ten minute break. For an 8 hour shift, two ten minute breaks during each of the four hour periods. For the 10 hour shift, two ten minute breaks during each of the four hour periods.
Re: Break times
See CA Labor Code Sect. 512, and call the CA Division of Labor Standards Enforcement. This agency has established many regulations specific to given industries and occupations.
