Legal Question in Employment Law in California

if i was offered a promotion and a raise at work, and i received the promotion and all the added responcabilities, if six months later i have still not yet received the raise is that against the law in any ways?

would i be able to file a suit for back pay?

You might go to the EDD (California Labor Commissioner) and tell them that you've not been paid your full wages. Of course, provide documentation. There are waiting time penalties that might attach, as well, for each day the wages were not paid, up to 30 days. You might allege the failure to pay for each pay period, so that there might be six periods for waiting time penalties.
