Payment of 10 month contract

Is there any legal requirement that a teacher's 10 month contract be paid within the 10 months or can a teacher (if they want) be paid over 12 months?

Re: Payment of 10 month contract

Your employer is obligated to pay you for the time you work. Most teachers' collective bargaining agreements that I know about stretch payments out over 12 months, so teachers get some money during the summer months. It all depends on your union's collective bargaining agreement with the school district.
