Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Reducing hours during prenancy

My friend works as waitress and her hours were cut significantly and the only reason given was that ''customers might complain about a pregnant waitress''. The manager did not reference any complaints and the only reason given was that she was pregnant, not job performance. Is this discrimination?

Sure smells like it. IF she can show that comment was made, she has the basis of a discrimination claim. Have her contact me if interested in doing something about it.
