Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Room and Board

Is it legal for my employer to give me room and board (valued at $900.00) a month, and pay me a wage of $5.01 per hour for the 160 hrs a month I work? Note. $5.01 per hour shows up on my pay check, but the $900 Room and Board expense does not. Please Advise.

Re: Room and Board

If you think you are underpaid, as it may seem, you could file a claim with the Labor Commissioner. If they accept the filing, feel free to contact me for legal help you'll need in the hearings.
