Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Is salary wage enough?

My parents have managed a M.H. park for the last 22 years. My parents each received a check for the same amount each month + no rent for the small house they live in on the premises. My mom recently died, now they just pay me her check and I do the office work. My parents had never taken or been paid any vacation pay in those 22 years. Now that my dad's income is cut in half, this - no vacation pay thing really bothers me. The owners have been good to them for all these years but I feel his wage is not enough for all he does, and don't feel he's had sufficiant wage increases over this many years. Don't want to sue or anything, but feel this should be addressed. Losing my mom was hard enough and then for my dad to have to take a loss in income to boot? He gets paid $596.74 + sm. 2bd. house (so your ''on call'' 24/7)

He doesn't get paid for any extra work he does (building/hauling etc.) or for gas - running to get materials, runs to the dump, etc. Any help is much appreciated!

Why dont you try negotiating with the owners in light of the fact that your mother is no longer there to provide assistance in the Mobile Home park. Why dont you try negotiating with the owners in light of the fact that your mother is no longer there to provide assistance in the Mobile Home park. You may be able to negotiate a higher salary for your father conisdering the amount of work that must be done on his own and at the same time try to negotiate 2 weeks of paid vacation, which is customary for most industries and even for new employees. Good luck!
