Legal Question in Employment Law in California

senority

I've worked at a food production factory for 15 years, and have had my weekends off. Now my employer says that we will be moved to mon. and tues. as our new days off.so people that just started working their can now also have weekends off. does my 15 years of service add up to nothing? cand they do this by law?

There is no law that requires employers to follow a seniority system, unless it was contracted for as with a union collective bargaining agreement.

However, pay attention to how the company policies are being implemented to see if it is applied in a discriminatory manner, i.e. based on age, gender, etc. If you believe it is, schedule an appointment with a local labor law attorney to review your legal rights.
