Legal Question in Employment Law in California

unpaid checks issue

This is my second time going to the labor commissioner. And, like the last time the person I used to work for did not show up. The ''labor commissioner'' asked me all this questions I really did not understand. I'm not a lawyer so I don't know their vocabulary. Is not like I do this every day. Now I have to ''amend'' the case with the labor commissioner I talked to the first time. I've missed 2 days of work already and I don't know what else to do. I feel as if anyone can get away with anything. This ''person owes me 7,000 dollars. Money that I'll probably never see. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to consider hiring an attorney at this point.
