Vacation Time

Can an employer make me forfit the vacation time i have earned this year if i don't take the time off this year? i requested the employer add it to my vacation time for next year and was told that was against company policy.

The California Labor Code prohibits a use-it-or-lose-it vacation policy.

Yes, provided that was and is the company's practice. Some companies will agree to compensate you for all or part of a vacation not taken with cash. They do not have to. Many employers do not want to have a key employees out longer than the usual annual vacations.
