I am a working mom, isn't there a law that allows me to assist an hour a two a week to assist in my children's classroom?

If you are asking if you can force the school to admit you, no. If you are asking if you have a 'legal right' to leave work for that, no. Try to negotiate flex time or comp time with your employe, or look for other employment where they are willing to allow it; many are receptive to the needs of parents.
